Bears Earn Dual Win at Wabash

The Washington University in St. Louis men's swimming & diving team won 11 events en route to a 182-111 win at Wabash College Saturday afternoon.

Junior Michael Lagieski was part of three first-place finishes for the Bears. He won the 100 breaststroke (57.28) and 200 breaststroke (2:09.23). Lagieski also teamed with freshmen Jordan Wheeler and Brandon Lum, and sophomore Ross Brown to win the 400-medley relay in 3:29.17.

Junior Justin Morrell also won a pair of individual events. He was first in the 50 free in 21.74, and touched first in the 100 free in 47.34. Brown was second in the 100 free in 48.32. Morrell also anchored the 200-free relay, joining Brown, freshman Andrew Pek and senior Luke Dobben, to finish in 1:26.76. Dobben added a first-place finish in the 500 free (4:45.38), and was second in the 200 free (1:45.46).

Freshman Kevin Van Cleave won the 100 backstroke in 53.77, and had the fastest time in the 200 IM (1:57.70). Junior Andrew Ellison, freshman Jason Hsu, and seniors RJ Petrella and Reed Dalton accounted for the other four first-place finishes for the Bears. Ellison won the 1,000 free (9:57.81), Hsu was first in the 200 fly (1:55.47), Petrella finished first in the 200 backstroke (1:58.17), and Dalton won the 100 fly (50.70).
