Tartans Host Diving Invitational, Gabe Bamforth Sets Pool Record

The Carnegie Mellon University men's and women's diving teams hosted a three team invitational on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19 with Chatham University and Washington and Jefferson College.

Sophomore Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter board events with a pool record score on the 1-meter board. He also made his final qualifying mark for the 1-meter board and will now compete in both events at the 2016 NCAA Division III Region 4 Diving Championships on February 24-25. This weekend, after 11 dives Bamforth earned 470.80 points on the 1-meter board to surpass the previous school record of 443.35. He also earned 464.20 points on the 3-meter board.

Junior DeShawn Green (Newport News, Va./Warwick) placed second on the 3-meter board with a score of 306.95 and was third on the 1-meter board with 298.25 points. Sophomore Evan Hill (Knoxville, Tenn./Bearden) placed fifth on the 1-meter board with 260.35 points and dove on the 3-meter board as exhibition and scored 142.90 points after six dives.
