CWRU Tops Wooster on Friday

The Case Western Reserve University men's swimming and diving team each earned a 167-70 win over the College of Wooster on Friday night in the Veale Natatorium.

Highlighting the meet for the Spartan men were senior David Merriman, and juniors Drew Hamilton and Oliver Hudgins. Merriman won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a career-best time of 10:09.59 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:56.75. Hamilton won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.88 and the 100-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 48.66. Hudgins won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.91 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:57.80. Hamilton and Hudgins also teamed with senior Andrew Henning and sophomore Brody Schmidt to win the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.92.

The Spartans won the 400-yard medley relay as well, with Henning, and juniors Ondrej Maxian, John Kilbane and Aaron Pang finishing first with a time of 3:37.47. Other individual wins by the Spartan men on Friday came from Pang in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.22), Schmidt in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.19) and freshman Mason Beck in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.08).
