Drew Hamilton of CWRU Notches NCAA ‘B’ Cut during Second Day of Wooster Invitational

Case Western Reserve University junior Drew Hamilton recorded an NCAA Division III 'B' cut time during the second day of competition at the Wooster Invitational, as the men's squad sits in first place at the meet.

The men have scored 1,089 points through two days to lead second-place Westminster (869) and third place Gannon (814). 

Hamilton paced the squad in the 400-yard individual medley, winning the event with a 'B' cut time of 4:02.75. It marked his first 'B' cut of the meet. He was one of four Spartans to qualify for the 'A' final of the event, along with sophomore Keith Erichsen (fifth, 4:12.71), senior David Merriman (sixth, 4:14.89) and freshman Tom Schlechter (seventh, 4:16.30).

Other 'A' final finishers for the Spartan men on Friday included freshman John Libert (second, 50.86) and junior Aaron Pang (third, 51.23) in the 100-yard butterfly, senior Andrew Henning (second, 1:42.39), junior Oliver Hudgins (fifth, 1:43.73) and sophomore Brody Schmidt (sixth, 1:44.20) in the 200-yard freestyle, freshman Mason Beck (second, 58.23) and junior John Kilbane (third, 58.59) in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Libert (eighth, 53.83) in the 100-yard backstroke.

The Spartans men's 800-yard freestyle relay of Hamilton, Hudgins, Henning and Schmidt added a first-place finish with a time of 6:52.41.

Sophomore Neil Orton finished second in the men's three-meter dive with a score of 333.60.
