Drew Hamilton of CWRU Claims All-America Honorable Mention During Day 2 of NCAA Championships

Case Western Reserve University junior Drew Hamilton finished ninth in the finals of the 400-yard individual medley to claim an All-America Honorable Mention during the second day of competition at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Shenandoah, Texas.

During the morning preliminaries, Hamilton swam a time of 3:59.76 to place 11th. The junior returned in the finals to swim a time of 3:57.85, a new program record, finishing ninth overall to claim the All-America Honorable Mention certificate. Hamilton now has collected five All-American certificates in his career, including the two earned during this year's championships.

Also in action on Thursday, the 200-freestyle relay team of Hamilton, senior Andrew Henning, junior Oliver Hudgins and sophomore Brody Schmidt placed 23rd with a time of 1:25.84. The four Spartans also competed in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing 21st with a mark of 3:30.24.

Action at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships will continue with the third day of competition on Friday from the CISD Natatorium. Currently scheduled to compete for the Spartans during the day are Hamilton, Hudgins, Henning and Schmidt in the 800-yard freestyle relay (seeded 15th with a time of 6:45.24).
