The New York University men's swimming & diving team is currently in third place out of eight teams at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, held Wednesday-Saturday, February 8-11, at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL.
The Violets have accumulated 833 points during the meet, and currently trail second-place Washington University in St. Louis (998.5) and leaders Emory University (1153.5).
Ian Rainey and Reid Hensen finished 1-2 in the 400-yard IM, and Rainey's winning time of 3:52.08 set a new NYU record. Also entering the Violet record books was Chad Moody, who recorded a school-best and UAA-record time of 48.98 in the 100-yard backstroke.
"We had a tremendous day and I am really proud of their effort and our results," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We have another big day tomorrow and I look forward to us finishing strongly."
On the diving boards, Connor Brisson won the three-meter competition (570.65 in the finals, UAA-record 620.90 in the prelims) ahead of teammates Nick Lemieux in fifth (440.95) and Max Falb in ninth (341.20).
"I'm very happy with the way we competed today," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "Connor had his best performance of the season in the prelims, Nick easily had his best three-meter performance in the finals, and Max killed it on all of his very difficult dives."
