NYU Finishes Third at UAA Championships

From NYU Athletics

New York University's men's swimming & diving team finished in third place at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, which were held Wednesday-Saturday, February 8-11, at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL.

The Violets finished the eight-team competition with 1,269 points as Emory University won its 19th consecutive UAA title with 1,650.5 points. It was the third straight third-place finish for the Violets at the Championships.

"I was very proud of our effort this weekend and it was great to see our swimmers perform well during this grueling meet," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "I was excited about our performance this weekend and I look forward to getting back to work in preparation for the NCAA Championships."

Chad Moody won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 45.31. He also anchored the third-place 400-yard freestyle relay squad (3:02.77), which also included Joe Baron, Alexander Katz and Tim Kou.

Also victorious for NYU was Ian Rainey, who won the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 15:35.19.

Connor Brisson, who won both the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions with UAA-record scores, was named UAA Diver of the Year after the meet.

"Overall, I couldn't be happier. There were plenty of opportunities where our divers could have 'let me down', but no one did, not once," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "I'm proud of Connor being named UAA Diver of the Year."
