11 UAA Men Named to CollegeSwimming.com Preseason All-America Team

Eleven UAA men's swimmers were named to the CollegeSwimming.com 2016-17 Division III Preseason All-America Team.

Emory University led all UAA programs and tied for second place in NCAA Division III with six preseason All-America selections. Making the list for the Eagles were seniors Andrew Wilson (100 and 200 Breast, 200 IM), Christian Baker (200, 500 Free and 1,650 Free), Mitchell Cooper (100 Back, 200 IM), juniors Oliver Smith (50 and 100 Free), Cooper Tollen (100 Breast), and sophomore Thomas Gordon (200, 500 and 1,650 Free).

Wilson holds the NCAA Division III record in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events and returns to Emory following a year spent training for the Olympic Trials.

Reid Hensen (400 IM) and Timothy Kou (200 Breast) of NYU garnered preseason All-America recognition as did Michael Lagieski (200 IM, 100 and 200 Breast) and Brandon Lum (200 Fly) of Washington University. Lagieski was a 2016 United States Olympic Team Trials Qualifier.

Mitchell Riek (200 Fly, 500 and 1,650 Free) of Carnegie Mellon University was also named a preseason All-America swimmer.
