Yellowjackets Start Quick, Finish Strong to Defeat Hartwick

Rochester's men produced victories in the first five events – one relay and four individual races – and then came up with quality swims down the stretch to post a victory over Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon.

The Yellowjackets claimed three more individual wins in the meet and won the one meter diving event with an NCAA qualifying performance. It all paid off with a 152-142 victory over Hartwick. Rochester is 3-1 on the young season.

That qualifying dive score was posted by Stephen Savchik. He won the one meter board with a 282.00. Savchik was second on the three meter board, scoring a 224.69.

Eric Sonheim was Rochester's sole double winner. He was first in the 100 freesstyle (:48.27) and the 200 freestyle (1:46.96). He swam on the runnerup 400 free relay which closed the meet with a time of 3:15.33.  The other relay swimmers with Sonheim on the 400 free were Danny Aronson, Evan Villafranca, and AJ Brewer.

Connor Virgile, Arlen Fan, and Eric Feirouz had a victory and a second place performance. Virgile won the 100 back (:54.07) and was second in the 200 back (1:59.40). Fan was first in the 100 breaststroke (:59.66) and second in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.29). Feirouz was the victor in the 200backstroke, timed in 1:58.63. He had a 2:01.35 in the 200 IM, placing him second. 

Elliot Schwinn was first in the 1,000 freestyle (9:57.76) and third in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.90), close behind Fan.
