Elliot Schwinn Wins Twice in Rochester Loss to Geneseo

Sophomore Elliot Schwinn was a double-winner for the UR men's swimming and diving team, but the Yellowjackets dropped a dual meet to SUNY Geneseo by a score of 164-75 on Friday evening.

Schwinn touched first in both the 1650 freestyle and the 200 butterfly, posting UR's only event victories on the night.  The sophomore earned a time of 17:20.60 in the mile and 1:59.63 in the butterfly event.

Overall, Rochester drops to 8-3 in duals this season while Geneseo's men improve their record to 6-2.

Freshman Eric Sonheim and senior Alden Brewer each recorded a runner-up finish on Friday night, with Sonheim touching second in the 200 freestyle (1:48.55) and Brewer finishing runner-up in the 50 free (22.04).  Sonheim also was 3rd in the 100 free in 49.85 seconds.

Both of UR's relays, the 200 medley and 200 freestyle ended in second place.  Connor Virgile, Arlen Fan, Brewer and Danny Aronson made up UR's medley relay which clocked in at 1:38.12 while Sonheim, Evan Villafranca, Aronson and Brewer were on the free relay squad which earned a time of 1:29.79.

In diving, freshman Stephen Savchik was third on the 3-meter board with an 11-dive score of 455.70 while also winding up fourth on the 1-meter board.

Eric Weidman was Rochester's top racer in the 500 freestyle, finishing third in 5:01.97 after also placing third earlier in the night in the 1650 free.  Fan also had a third place result for the Yellowjackets, touching in 2:17.46 in the 200 breaststroke.  Eric Feirouz led UR swimmers in the 200 IM while Virgile was the top 200 backstroker for Rochester.
