Two Yellowjackets Place in Top Seven in UAA 1,650 Freestyle

From University of Rochester Athletics

Two distance swimmers finished in the top eight for the men for the University of Rochester at the University Athletic Association championships at the University of Chicago.

Elliot Schwinn was fifth overall in the 1,650 freestyle (16:19.08) and Eric Weidman finished seventh (16:25.07). The 1,650 does not run a trials session in the afternoon and a final session at night. One race dictates final placings.

In all, the Yellowjackets had seven competitors in the top 20 in the distance race. Ben Weinstein finished 14th, Evan James was 17th, Joshua Dennis was 18th, Naoki Toyomura 19th, and Noah Soxpollard was 20th.

Rochester had three men place among the top 24 for the Saturday finals. Arlen Fan was 18th (2:07.49) and Eric Weidman was 23rd (2:09.27) in the 200 breaststroke. Eric Sonheim swam to a 23rd place finish in the 100 freestyle (:47.27).
