Andrew Wilson of Emory Claims 100 Breast Title at Arena Pro Swim Series

Senior Andrew Wilson closed out the Arena Pro Swim Series for the Eagles by taking home the 100 LCM Breaststroke championship on Sunday night at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.

After swimming the top overall time during the preliminary session at 1:00.95, Wilson turned in an even stronger performance in the championship final to win the event, finishing at 1:00.63.

Wilson trailed Michael Andrew by just .02 seconds at the midway point but was able to  take over the lead shortly after the 50-meter turn and was able to hang on for the victory. Nicolas Fink and Josh Prenot (T-2nd, 1:01.03), Andrew (4th, 1:01.20) and David Murphy (5th, 1:01.65) rounded out the top-5.

Three other Eagles qualified for the day three finals on Sunday but chose not to compete in the night session. Sophomore Ashley Daniels posted the 16thfastest mark in prelims in the 100 Breast at 1:14.96. Freshman Sage Ono finished 25th overall during the morning session in the 100 Back with a time of 59.20 and junior Cindy Cheng placed 30th in prelims in the 100 Back, touching at 1:05.79.

Sophomore Thomas Gordon (19th, 16:25.27) and senior Christian Baker (23rd, 16:32.24) as well as sophomore Fiona Muir in the 100 Back (56th, 1:08.29) were also in action on Sunday for the Eagles.
