Washington University Returns From Break in Convincing Fashion

The Washington University in St. Louis men's swimming and diving team dominated the rescheduled Quad Meet Monday afternoon in the I.E. Millstone Pool after the originally scheduled meet was postponed due to weather.

The WashU men scored 1,331 points in a three team competition while the women scored 1,237 points in a four team meet. The men defeated Lindenwood University (439) and McKendree University (367).

Senior Michael Lagieski and freshman Jerry Chen both had individual victories while also swimming the first two laps of the winning 200 freestyle relay team with junior TJ Dawson and senior Justin Morrell (1:26.83). The group finished with the fifth best Bears time of the season.

Lagieski won the 50 breaststroke individually with a time of 26.33 while Chen finished the 50 backstroke with a winning time of 24.37. Lagieski also placed second in the 50 butterfly while the Bears sophomore Jordan Wheeler (23.69), Lagieski (23.77) and sophomore Brandon Lum (23.93) were the only individuals to finish in less than 24 seconds.
