Washington University Second After Thursday's Action at UAA Championships

The Washington University in St. Louis men's swimming and diving team had three runner-up finishes and six B-cut times during the University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday evening. 

The WashU men currently are in second place following day two of the UAA Championships with 435 points behind Emory University's 596.

Junior Ross Brown placed second with a career-best B-cut time in the 50 free (20.64). He also helped the Bears to a season-best time in the 400 medley relay with teammates Peyton Wilson, Michael Lagieski and Andrew Pek. The group placed second with a 2016 qualifying time of 3:18.15.

Also placing second for the Bears was Lagieski with a 2016 qualifying time in the 200 individual medley (1:50.08). Sophomore Kevin Van Cleave finished fourth in the 200 IM with a B-cut time of 1:51.44. 

Brown and Pek also teamed up with Chase Van Patten and Justin Morrell for a season-best time in the 200 free relay (1:22.48) while placing third. Senior Andrew Ellisonwas the final WashU male to finish with a B-cut time during the 500 free (4:33.47).

2nd 200 IM – Michael Lagieski – 1:50.08 (2016 invited time)

3rd 200 FR Relay – Ross Brown, Chase Van Patten, Andrew Pek, Justin Morrell – 1:22.48 (B-cut and season-best time)

4th 200 IM – Kevin Van Cleave – 1:51.44 (B-cut time)

7th 500 FR – Andrew Ellison – 4:33.47 (B-cut time)
