Brandeis Tops Vassar, 175-106

The Brandeis men's swimming and diving team earned its second win of the weekend in a dual meet against Vassar College.

The men were led to victory by sophomore Tamir Zitelny (Syosset,N.Y. / Syosset) and freshman Richard Selznick (Las Vegas, Nev. / Palo Verde)who placed first in three and two events, respectfully. Zitelny took first in the Men's 200 Yard Butterfly (2:00.81) and Men's 200 Yard Backstroke (2:03.29). He also contributed to the Men's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team's first place finish (3:20.80). The team of Daniel Wohl (Chapel Hill, N.C. / East Chapel Hill), Marcelo Ohno-Machado (San Diego, Calif. / Torrey Pines), Zitelny, and Chase Chen (Villanova, Penn. / Hill School) added 11 points to the Judges total tally on the day.

Selznick, who has started his college career off hot, took first in the Men's 1000 Yard Freestyle (10:12.43) and first in the Men's 500 Yard Freestyle (4:56.03).

Other top performances on the men's side came from freshman Marcelo Ohno-Machado, who finished first in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:51.10, and freshman Chase Chen who took first in the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle (49.66). Senior diver Sam Zucker (Omaha, Neb. / Anderson) had a stellar day as he scored 190.55 points in the three meter dive and 185.25 in the one meter. Although Zucker was uncontested in the three meter, he bested all Vassar opponents in the one meter.
