The Case Western Reserve men men have totaled 1,230 points to lead second-place Westminster (845.5) and third-place Gannon (787) after two days of the nine-team Wooster Invitational.
The Spartan men were particularly strong in both 400-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with five 'A' final finishers in the 400-yard IM and three 'A' final finishers in the 100-yard breast. The 400-yard IM 'A' final finishers were senior Drew Hamilton (first, 4:05.98), freshman Sean Twomey (third, 4:08.60), junior Keith Erichsen (fifth, 4:11.94 in the prelim), sophomore A.J. Quinn (sixth, 4:13.61) and senior Aaron Pang (seventh, 4:12.79 in the prelim). The 100-yard breast 'A' final finishers were freshman Darren Lau(first, 58.46 in the prelim), senior John Kilbane (third, 59.02) and senior Evan Rose (fifth, 59.19 in the prelim).
Other 'A' final finishers for the Spartan men on Friday included senior Oliver Hudgins (first, 50.49) in the 100-yard butterfly, junior Brody Schmidt (sixth, 1:44.14) in the 200-yard freestyle and freshman Dakota Weinman (eighth, 53.40) in the 100-yard backstroke.
The Spartan men's 200-yard medley relay of Hamilton, Hudgins, Lau and Pang added a third-place finish with a time of 1:34.82, while the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Hamilton, Hudgins, Schmidt and Twomey finished second in the event with a time of 6:53.88.
Freshman Cassiel Yuzik finished third in the men's three-meter dive with a score of 361.80.
