The New York University men's swimming team captured the NYU Fall Invitational, which the Violets hosted on Friday and Saturday, November 3-4, at the Palladium Athletic Facility (PAF) in Manhattan.
The Violets totaled 529 over the two days, comfortably defeating second-place Stevens Institute of Technology (332 points).
On Saturday's second day of action, seniors Tim Kou (200-yard breaststroke) and Ian Rainey (200-yard butterfly, 400-yard IM), junior Nianzhong Liu (100-yard freestyle), sophomore Carlos Colmenares (200-yard backstroke) and freshman Peyton Lucas (1650-yard freestyle), all earned first-place finishes for the Violets in their respective events. Additionally, Kou, Rainey, Liu and senior Chad Moody won the 400-yard freestyle relay for NYU. Rainey's IM time of 3:57.38 was good for a NCAA cut.
"We had a solid run across the board," said NYU Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We are set up well moving forward."
The NYU divers hosted a separate competition on Saturday against Manhattan College, and the Violets' Connor Brisson won both the one-meter (318.23) and three-meter (402.68) events.
"We are finally at the point in the season where we are competing our harder dives, and it paid off today," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "Brisson was only two points off of his school record."
