NYU Third After First Day of MIT Invitational

The New York University men's swimming & diving team completed day one of the MIT Winter Invitational on Friday, December 1, in Cambridge, MA.

The Violets are currently in third place with 110 points.

Lucas Payton placed second in the 1,650-yard freestyle, earning a NCAA "B" cut with a time of 16:09.56.

The Violets earned third place in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:49.91. Swimming for the team was Tim Kou, Kyle DaySean Haechler, and Carlos Colmenares.

In time trials, Ian Rainey got a NCAA "B" cut and set the NYU team record in the 200-yard IM (1:48.74). Adam Betts made a "B" cut in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.25.

"We are so far ahead of where we were at this point last year. I could not be happier with our progress thus far," said Head Coach Trevor Miele.

On the diving board, Connor Brisson won the three-meter dive with a score of 390.5.

"Today's men's field was strong, but Connor Brisson still ran away from the field," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "Max Falb finished seventh (233.05) and had the best three-meter performance of his career."
