NYU Takes Sixth at NCAA Championships

The New York University men's swimming & diving team has completed competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, which were held on Wednesday-Saturday, March 21-24, in Indianapolis, IN.

The Violets placed sixth out of 53 teams in the competition, accumulating 245 points. Denison University won the national title with 596.5 points.

"I am incredibly proud of the team," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "They stepped up to the challenge once again and capped off the season in impressive fashion."

The 200-yard breaststroke produced two All-American performances for NYU. Giorgio DelGrosso and Tim Kou, who yesterday captured fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke, placed third (1:59.18) and fifth (2:00.08) in the 200-yard breaststroke. 

The 400-yard freestyle relay quartet of Nianzhong Liu, Joe Baron, Ian Rainey, and Chad Moody captured Honorable Mention All-America honors, finishing 11th in a time of 3:02.11

Over the course of the four-day meet, team members collected a total of 17 All-America honors and 14 Honorable Mention All-America accolades, including relays.

Also competing for NYU on Saturday were the following swimmers.

100-yard freestyle - Chad Moody (36th, 45.89), Elan Oumarov (51st, 47.70), Sean Haechler (52nd, 47.85)
200-yard backstroke - Josh Rine (18th, 1:49.68), Adam Betts (23rd, 1:50.54), William Looney (27th, 1:51.09)

The 2017-18 NYU swimming & diving season has concluded.
