From NYU Athletics

The New York University men's swimming & diving team finished second at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimming & Diving Championships, which were held Wednesday-Saturday, February 14-17, at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

The Violets finished with 1,519 points, ahead of Washington University in St. Louis in third (1,492.5) and trailing only the host Eagles (1,725).

The top NYU finishers on the final night were Ian Rainey and Josh Rine. Rainey took second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:47.99), while Rine placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:48.75).

"I am really proud of the team's effort this weekend, as well as all year," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "They worked hard all year long and it was fantastic to see them swim so well this weekend."

Connor Brisson, who was named UAA Diver of the Year, won the one-meter dive on Saturday with a score of 640.30 points. Nick Lemieux captured third place in the event (491.15).

"It's been a record-setting week. Nick moved from seventh in prelims to end up third in the final session, putting together the best dives I've seen him compete," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean, who was named UAA Diving Coach of the Year. "Connor continued his dominance, running away from the competition in the night session with a UAA record that is sure to stand for a long time. It was a long week made shorter by a great team effort."
