The New York University men's swimming & diving team completed day two of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday, March 22. The meet is being held in Indianapolis, IN, from Wednesday-Saturday, March 21-24.

The Violets, who are ranked #6 in the nation by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), currently sit in seventh place out of 41 teams with 105 points. Denison University leads with 325.5 points.

Ian Rainey, who yesterday won the first national championship in program history, took home his second title in two days, winning the 400-yard IM in a time of 3:47.77. Rainey broke his own school record of 3:50.65, which he set during the 2016-17 season.

"Ian dominated the race from start to finish," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "He was clearly the best swimmer in the nation in the 400 IM."

Rainey was a part of another school-record performance on Thursday. He, along with Chad Moody, Giorgio Delgrosso and Nianzhong Liu, took seventh in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:17.51. The quartet broke the previous best of 3:17.53, set by Adam Betts, Matt Kendall, Daniel Tay, and Jerry Crowley during the 2014-15 season.
