Taye Baldinazzo Takes Third in 500 Freestyle for Chicago at Day One of NCAA Championships

A record-breaking performance from Taye Baldinazzo highlighted the University of Chicago swimming and diving effort at the first day of the NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday.

Baldinazzo came into the meet as the 10th-seeded swimmer in the men's 500-yard freestyle. After a strong performance in prelims, the Maroon sophomore was through to the evening finals. Baldinazzo then secured himself a spot on the podium and All-American status with a third-place finish. His time of 4:25.76 broke the school record.
