From University of Rochester Athletics
The University of Rochester men's swimming and diving team had one event win and a slew of other strong finishes at a quad meet hosted at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday.
Rochester combined to go 1-2 in the triple-dual format, as the Yellowjackets defeated Grove City College 157-139, but fell to host CWRU 209-89 and also lost to Gannon University 161-126.
Senior Arlen Fan posted the lone win for Rochester, touching first in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:00.06. The senior also finished 4th in the 200 breast in 2:15.94 and was on UR's 4th place 200 medley relay team (1:38.86), along with teammates Connor Virgile, Josh Allon and Danny Aronson.
Junior Eric Feirouz had two third place results and fifth, coming in the 200 IM (2:01.14), 200 backstroke (1:57.06) and the 200 freestyle (1:47.71). He was edged out by teammate Eric Sonheim in the freestyle race by two tenths of a second.
Besides his 4th in the 200 free, Sonheim was also on UR's 3rd place 200 freestyle relay team which clocked in at 1:28.34. The quartet in that race also included Allon, Evan Villafranca and Aronson.
Eric Weidman ended up in 4th place in the 1000 freestyle, posting a time of 10:08.06. Villafranca clocked in at 22.14 and finished 5th in the 50 freestyle, edging out Aronson who was 6th in 22.17. Aronson also wound up 5th in the 100 freestyle (49.16).
