Two Top-Five Finishes Lead Seventh-Place Yellowjackets at UAA Championships

Max Adler and Stephen Savchik produced career bests on the one meter board during the trials on Saturday. They earned a berth in the finals and bettered their scores from the prelims. Because of that, both men will dive in the NCAA Zone Championships in March at Ithaca. 
 
After the morning dive, Adler sat in third place overall with a score of 469.75. It's a lifetime best score for him on the one meter board. He bettered that in the finals, getting a 475.00 and finished fourth overall.
 
Savchik headed to the finals with a fifth place with a score of 451.25. In the evening, he bettered his score to a lifetime best  of 473.60. He stayed in fifth place.
  
Two days ago, on the second day of UAA diving competition, Adler and Savchik scored high enough to earn a qualifying spot at the NCAAs for the three-meter board.
 
In the swimming events on Saturday night, Rochester had two finalists in the 200 backstroke. Eric Feirouz was 13th at morning trials (1:53.40) and finished there in the evening with a time of 1:52.20.  Connor Virgile was 19th (1:54.18) in the trials. He got to the wall in 1:52.65 to finish 17th at the finals.
 
Arlen Fan (20th, 2:09.95) and Eric Weidman (23rd, 2:11.17) had good times in the Saturday trials for the 200 breaststroke. At the evening finals, Weidman finished in an exact tie for 19th place with Sean Twomey of Case Western Reserve. Both men touched the pad in 2:08.40 to finish tied for 19th (and 20th) places. Fan had a 2:11.85 in the finals. He was 24th.  Danny Aronson was just shy of a finals berth in the 100 freestyle. He was clocked in :47.76, good for 25th place.
 
The A 400 freestyle relay was eighth in 3:09.45 (Feirouz, Eric Chang, Aronson, Erik Rosenkranz). The B relay was timed in 3:12.37 and finished 15th (Alin Kenworthy, Eric Sonheim, Paul Steve, Evan Villafranca).
 
Weidman swam the 1,650 freestyle and finished 13th individually, timed in 16:17.79.
 
Rochester finished seventh in team scoring.
