Yellowjackets Place Three in Top 20 of 200 Freestyle at Ithaca

Three Rochester men finished in the top 20 in the 200 yard freestyle, the 200 fly, and the 100 backstroke on Saturday in the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational.
 
After the Saturday morning races were finished, Rochester sat in fifth place out of 11 teams. The Yellowjackets accumulated 355 points. Cornell remained the leader with 994 points. Geneseo was second (664.5) with Nazareth third (417) and Shippensburg fourth (387).
 
Four events will be conducted on Saturday evening (200 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, 800 free relay). The final session of the competition begins at 10 am on Sunday.
 
UR's top individual finisher was Elliot Schwinn. He was ninth in the 400 IM (4:14.10). Edward Domenico was 13th in that race (4:21.73).
 
In the 200 freestyle, Eric Sonheim was 10th (1:45.84), Eric Feirouz was 11th (1:45.94), and Grant Yap was 17th (1:49.62). Evan Villafranca was 14th in the 100 fly (:53.55) and Raahi Klar-Chaduhuri was 19th (:54.32).
 
The 200 free relay was sixth (1:27.92) with the spots filled by Villafranca, Sonheim, Danny Aronson, and Klar-Chadhuri. The 400 medley relay finished seventh (3:36.67).

Evening Session:
Elliot Schwinn blazed to a sixth place finish in the 200 fly (1:57.16). Edward Domanico was 12th (1:59.31) and Noah Soxpollard was 17th (2:02.32). Brandon Kim and Connor Virgile were :00.23 apart in the 100 backstroke. Kim was ninth (:53.55) and Virgile 10th (:53.78). Eric Chang swam a :54.49 to finish 12th. Kevin Liu was 12th in the 100 breaststroke (:59.86). 

Stephen Savchik was seventh on the one meter board with a score of 393.60. Adam Hopson was 13th (326.65).

Heading into Sunday's final day, Rochester remained  fifth in team scoring with 516 points. Cornell leads (1,377), followed by Geneseo (1,046), Nazareth (558.5), and Springfield (521).
