Steven Wu Headlines Great Weekend for NYU

Senior Steven Wu was the lone New York University men's tennis player competing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships on the tournament's final day, advancing to the singles championship before dropping two sets to champion Oliver Loutsenko of Skidmore College.

The Championships were hosted by Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY, from Friday to Sunday, September 20-22.

Highlights

- In the semifinals, Wu took care of #3 seed Jimmy Sherpa in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-3.

- In his next match, against top seed Loutsenko, Wu was shut out in the first set, losing 6-0.

- Wu battled back in the second set but still lost 6-4, ending his stellar run.

"Steve had a great tournament," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "I am very happy for him. He deserves the success that he had. He works hard and is a team guy. He is an excellent representative of NYU and the paradigm of a student-athlete."
