From Emory University Athletics
The No. 4-ranked Emory men's tennis closed out its action at the
University Athletic Association Championships by defeating Case
Western in the third-place match. The Eagles raised their
overall record to 17-6 following a 5-4 triumph over the No. 10
Spartans who slipped to15-7. The Championships were
held at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Emory trailed by a 2-1 count following doubles with the No. 3 team
of senior Ayush Bajoria and junior Eric
Halpern accounting for that point with an 8-4 decision over
James Fojtasek and Louis Stuerke.
The Eagles battled to four wins in singles play with
sophomore Rafe Mosetick knotting the match at 2-2
following his 6-3, 6-0, win against Eric Klawitter, boosting his
record to 17-9 on the year. JuniorIan Wagner's 7-6, 6-1, triumph
vs. Derek Reinbold at four singles provided Emory with a 3-2 edge,
while sophomore Will Adams put the Eagles one point shy
of clinching the outcome with a come-from-behind triumph over John
Healey at No. 6. After the Spartans drew to within 4-3 after
winning at five singles, junior Alex Ruderman sealed the
victory with a 7-6, 6-4, verdict against Christopher Krimbill at
No. 1, his sixth consecutive and 20th triumph in 23
outings this year.
