Eric Halpern Plays Way Into Quarterfinals of NCAA D-III Men's Singles Championships

Emory junior Eric Halpern has advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Singles Championships.

The unseeded Halpern opened with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Steven Wu of New York University before rallying for a 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 triumph over Whittier College's David Konstantinov in the Round of 16. The two wins boosted Halpern's season record to 24-9.  His next opponent will be No. 2-seeded Joey Fritz on Friday in a match that is slated for a 9:00 am start (PDT). 

Emory's other representative in the Singles Championship, junior Alex Ruderman, dropped his opening match to Moises Cardenas of Cal Lutheran, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7, closing out his season record at 21-4.
