Washington Advances To Central Regional Championship With Sweep Of Coe

The No. 2-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team rolled into the Central Region championship a 5-0 sweep of Coe College in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Championship Saturday morning at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.

The Bears were up a break on all three courts early in doubles play and took a 3-0 lead, sweeping doubles for the ninth time this season. Washington U. started strong in singles as well and was up a set on five of six courts. Junior Kevin Chu made it 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles, and sophomore Tyler Kratky clinched the match for the Bears with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles.

Washington U. (20-2) takes on No. 13-ranked Whitman College in the Central Regional championship Sunday at Noon at the Tao Tennis Center. Whitman defeated Sewanee: University of the South 5-0 on Saturday.
