#35 Brandeis Rolls Past Wheaton, 6-0

The Brandeis University men's tennis team wrapped a quick 6-0 win over visiting Wheaton College today, as the Judges and Lyons played to decision. Brandeis, ranked 35th in Division III, improves to 4-6 with the win, while Wheaton falls to 4-2.

The Judges swept doubles to open the match. Sophomore Brian Granoff (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) and junior Danny Lubarsky (Cleveland, Ohio/Hawken School)outlasted Wheaton's Lawrence Chan and David Gassen at No. 1, while sophomores Michael Arguello (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood) and Jeff Cherkin (Melville, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) were 8-2 winners at No. 2 over Shreve Archer and Will White. Sophomore Ryan Bunis (Groton, Mass./Groton Dunstable) and senior Alec Siegel(Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) did not drop a game at No. 3, defeating Alden Zeff and Jim Beaton, 8-0.

In singles action, Bunis knocked off Chan, 6-1, 6-2, for the Judges' fourth point at No. 3 singles, while Arguello clinched the win at No. 2, defeating White, 6-4, 6-1. Granoff completed the action with a 6-4, 6-0, win over Gassen in the top spot, winning eight straight games after the first set was tied at 4-all.
