From Case Western Reserve University Athletics
The No. 12 Case Western Reserve men's tennis team won two doubles matches and five singles matches for a 7-2 win over No. 29 Brandeis University in the fifth-place match of the UAA Men's Tennis Championship.
The Spartans took a 2-1 lead entering singles after convincing wins by their No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams. Juniors CJ Krimbill (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) and Louis Stuerke (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) won 8-4 at No. 1, and senior Will Drougas (Roanoke, Va./Salem) and junior Viswajit Simhadri (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook) cruised to an 8-1 victory at No. 2.
Krimbill posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles to finish the UAA Championship undefeated with 3-0 marks in both singles and doubles.
Simhadri earned a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles to post a 4-2 record at the UAA tournament, 2-1 in singles and doubles.
Sophomore Joshua Dughi (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) earned his second win at No. 6 singles in as many matches with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
Stuerke won a tough three-setter at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 at No. 4 and freshman Andrew Komarov (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) posted a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
The Spartans completed the 2014-15 season with a 17-10 record.
