From Case Western Reserve University Athletics
The No. 12 Case Western Reserve men's tennis team defeated crosstown rival John Carroll University 8-1 for its second win of the day and fourth consecutive victory overall.
The Spartans jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles and won five singles matches in straight sets. Senior Will Drougas (Roanoke, VA/Salem) and juniors CJ Krimbill (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) and Louis Stuerke (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley Northwest) each posted wins in doubles and singles.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Krimbill and Stuerke won 8-1, while Drougas teamed with junior Viswajit Simhadri (Saratoga, CA/Lynbrook) for an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. Sophomores Adam Collins (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) and Freddy Daum (Katy, TX/Cinco Ranch) earned their second win of the day with an 8-2 decision at No. 3 doubles.
Krimbill, the top-ranked singles player in the Central Region, posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. Drougas earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and Stuerke, playing at No. 3 singles, dropped just one game in each set in his match.
Freshman Tytus Chen (San Jose, CA/Mountain View) was nearly flawless in his win at No. 5 singles, not dropping a single game. Classmate Andrew Komarov (Buffalo Grove, IL/Adlai E. Stevenson) put the eighth CWRU point on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles.
