Juniors Louis Stuerke (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) and CJ Krimbill (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) posted a 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 win tonight in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Facing the University of Redlands tandem of Nick Cummins and Patrick Lipscomb, Stuerke and Krimbill fought off two set points in the opening set to win 7-6 (9-7). The Spartan duo led 3-2 in the final set before winning three consecutive games to close out the match, 6-2.
Krimbill and Lipscomb also met in the singles round of 16 with Krimbill winning 6-3, 6-4.
Krimbill teamed with Eric Klawitter to win the national doubles title last season.
