Sidd Thangirala of the New York University men's tennis team was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Player of the Week on Wednesday, April 1.
Thangirala posted a perfect 3-0 record at No. 1 singles and doubles for the Violets over the weekend of March 28-29.
The junior began with a straight-set (7-5, 6-2) victory over Ben Shapiro of the University of Rochester on Saturday, and followed that up with another straight-set (6-4, 6-4) victory on Sunday over Mike Rusk of Hobart College. Thangirala, paired with Ian Combermale, also picked up an 8-2 victory in doubles on Sunday, helping NYU to a 6-3 overall victory in the dual against Hobart.
It is the first ECAC weekly honor of Thangirala's career.
