The University of Chicago men's tennis team continued its dominance in singles play with a 7-2 victory at California Lutheran University on Wednesday.

The No. 13-ranked Maroons improved to 10-2 overall. The No. 24-ranked Kingsmen dropped to 7-10.

The No. 2 doubles pairing of freshman Luke Tsai and sophomore Max Hawkins won their match 8-5. Cal Lutheran grabbed two out of the three doubles points, but the lead was short lived. UChicago took over and swept all six singles spots, including five in straight sets. Freshman Nicolas Chua fended off his opponent at the No. 1 position by dominating the second and third sets 6-1, 6-1. The other singles winners were sophomore Sven Kranz, senior Deepak Sabada, Tsai, freshman Peter Leung and freshman David Liu.

Over the past seven dual matches, UChicago has won 41 of 42 in singles competition.

"I'm really pleased with the way we came ready to compete in singles today against a quality team," Head Coach Jay Tee said. "The conditions were a little tricky but the guys were tough and battled hard even when we weren't always playing our best. I thought Sven, Luke and Max did a great job of setting the tone for the team. They're not our most vocal guys but they stepped out of their comfort zones and led their teammates with a great display of energy."
