The No. 17-ranked University of Chicago men's tennis team swept through No. 35-ranked Coe College 9-0 on Saturday.
The Maroons improved to 1-1 and dropped the Kohawks to 0-1 on the season.
UChicago went the distance at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, but came away with the decisive third set on each occasion. Freshman Nicolas Chua, senior Deepak Sabada, freshman Peter Leung, freshman David Liu and freshman Luke Tsai all tallied wins in both singles and doubles play.
"I was very happy with the way we competed today," said Head Coach Jay Tee. "We faced a little adversity in a few spots but were able to refocus and turn things around. In other spots, we did a great job of getting a lead and keeping our foot on the gas. We will need to have a great week of practice before heading to Cleveland next week as our schedule only gets tougher from here."
