Chicago Defeats Denison, 7-2

Chicago Defeats Denison, 7-2

From University of Chicago Athletics

The University of Chicago men's tennis team started out its weekend road trip with a 7-2 win at Denison University on Friday.

The No. 17-ranked Maroons improved to 2-1 and the No. 26-ranked Big Red fell to 0-2.

UChicago won its second and third doubles spots and then tallied five singles wins. Freshman Luke Tsai won his singles and doubles matches.

"The scores do not indicate how close this match actually was," said Head Coach Jay Tee. "Denison pushed us hard but I was happy with the way we responded. We lost a couple of matches in spots that we have been strong all year, but luckily some other guys picked up their teammates and led us to a win. We will need to get a good night's rest and bring an even higher level of focus as we take on the nation's eighth-ranked team on the road tomorrow."
