From University of Rochester Athletics
The University of Rochester men's tennis team kicked off
the winter/spring portion of its schedule with a 9-0 sweep over
crosstown rival RIT on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets (2-0) swept the Tigers (1-1) with six
straight set wins in singles and three wins in doubles
play.
All six players in the UR lineup were double
winners.
Ben Shapiro won 6-0, 6-3 at #1 singles while teaming with
Julian Danko for an 8-1 victory at #2 doubles. Danko won his
match at #4 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Sophomore Jonny Baker won 6-3, 6-1 at #2 singles while Sam
Leeman was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at #5. Baker and Leeman were
winners at 1st doubles by an 8-4 score.
The other two singles players were Ian Baranowski (6-0, 6-2)
and Aaron Mevorach (6-0, 6-0) at #3 and #6 respectively. The
pair was Rochester's 3rd doubles team and won 8-4.
