Yellowjackets Earn 7-2 Win Over Saints

The University of Rochester men's tennis team had three double-winners in a 7-2 victory over St. Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon at the Goergen Athletic Center.
 
Julian Danko, Ben Shapiro and Jonny Baker all won two matches for the 40th ranked Yellowjackets (8-7).  St. Lawrence falls to 7-5 on the year with the loss.
 
After doubles, Rochester would hold a 2-1 lead.  Danko and Sam Leeman would lead off with an 8-3 win over Rhonny Rosario and Paul Barrett at #3.  The #2 combo of Baker and Shapiro would then defeat Tom Luchars and Elliot Solandt 8-5 to put UR up 2-0.  At #1 doubles, SLU's John Megas and Robert Schmitz would win 8-3 over UR's Ian Baranowski and Aaron Mevorach.
 
The Yellowjackets would then take the first five singles matches to earn the victory.  Mevorach played at #6 for UR and opened singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Luchars.  Shaprio backed up his doubles win with a 6-2, 6-4 win at #2 over Dean Sponholz and Danko would earn the clincher for Rochester, winning 6-4, 6-0 at #4 over Schmitz.
 
Baranowski got into the win column with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Rosario at the top spot on the ladder while Baker would get his second win of the day at #3, defeating Megas 7-5, 6-0.  St. Lawrence's only singles point came at the #5 position from Barrett who won 7-6 (4), 7-5 over Leeman.
