Tartans Ranked No. 11 in Nation; Second in Atlantic South Region

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team received a national ranking of 11th when the first national Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings of the 2015-2016 season were recently announced.  The Tartans are also ranked second in the Atlantic South Region.

Individually, the Tartans have two players ranked nationally and another regionally for their singles play while two doubles tandems also received national rankings. Senior Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) and freshman Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) rank eighth and 22nd nationally in singles while holding a ranking of second and sixth, respectively, in the Atlantic South Region.  Joining the two in the regional rankings is junior Kiril Kirkov (Tampa, Fla./C. Leon King) at 25th.

The doubles team of Levine and senior Yuvraj Kumar (New Delhi, India/Millfield School) rank 13th nationally and third regionally.  Also, the tandem of sophomore Jeffrey Chen (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and junior Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) are ranked nationally and regionally.  The duo ranks 22nd nationally and sixth in the region.  

Carnegie Mellon will open its spring season February 6 when the Tartans host Walsh University.
