CWRU Sweeps Wabash and Allegheny

The No. 14 Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team swept both Wabash College (5-0) and Allegheny College (9-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club. 

With the win, the men's tennis team improves to 5-1 overall now having won three straight matches.

Against Wabash, CWRU swept the doubles matches. At first doubles, seniors CJ Krimbill and Louis Stuerke defeated William Reifeis and Michael Makio (8-1), second doubles of junior Freddy Daum and freshman John Benedetto outscored Mazin Hakim and Kirill Ivanshchenko (8-2), and the No. 3 doubles team of juniors James Fojtasek and Phil Gruber won their match against Jordan Greenwall and George Go III (8-2). 

Krimbill and Daum were the only two to finish their singles matches to secure the victory for CWRU.

In the win over Allegheny, Krimbill and Stuerke picked up their second win of the day (8-6). Gruber and Fojtasek teamed up for No. 2 doubles and defeated Jai Redkar and Zach Anderson by a score of 8-4. Daum paired up with junior Gabriel Murcia at third doubles and outscored their opponents Andreas Landgrebe and Colto JohnsonTaylor 8-3.

Krimbill, Fojtasek and Stuerke all picked up second wins against the Gators in their respective singles matches. Also with wins, freshman Robert Stroupdefeated Redkar at third singles in straight sets (6-1, 6-4). Juniors Kevin Dong and Josh Dughi picked up wins of 6-1, 6-1, and 6-1, 6-0, respectively, at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
