The No. 1-ranked Emory men's tennis team travelled to Fredericksburg, Va., and came away with a pair of weekend wins. The Eagles opened with a Friday evening 7-2 triumph over No. 21 Johns Hopkins before capturing a 9-0 outcome at No. 27 Mary Washington on Saturday. Emory now stands 16-3 on the spring (14-0 in D-III action).
Senior Rafe Mosetick and freshman Jonathan Jemison went 2-0 in both singles and doubles, with Mosetick topping JHU's Mike Buxbaum (6-4, 7-6) and UMW's Brandon Griffin (6-2, 6-1) and No. 1 singles, while teaming with Jemison at No. 2 doubles for a pair of wins that raised their spring mark to 12-3. Jemison raised his overall singles slate to 21-4 (12-2 at No. 2) following a 7-6, 6-4 decision over Jeremy Dublin of Johns Hopkins and a 6-2, 7-6 verdict over UMW's David Lunding-Johansson. Junior Aman Manji continued his steady play at No. 3 singles, bettering the Blue Jays' Scott Thygesen, 6-4, 6-3, and Mary Washington's Eric Hurwitz, 6-3, 6-2, upping his overall record to 15-5 (12-3 spring). Freshman Adrien Bouchet and junior Josh Goodman posted 2-0 records at Nos. 4 & 5 singles, respectively, with Bouchet now owning an overall record of 17-7 and Goodman, 17-8.
In addition to Mosetick and Jemison, the No. 3 tandem of sophomore David Omsky and Andrew Harrington came away with two wins, upending JHU's Justin Kang and Scott Thygesen, 8-1, and Mary Washington's Derek Hagino and Lunding-Johansson, 9-8. Omsky and Harrington have won 10 of 13 outings this spring.
