Matt Nielsen, the head coach for the University of Rochester men's and women's tennis teams, has been recognized for his contributions by the United States Professional Tennis Association.
Nielsen was named the USPTA's Northeast Region Coach of the Year. He and Rochester assistant coach Maggie Remynse did a seminar in Buffalo earlier this spring for area coaches. The topics were college tennis recruiting and doubles drills for team practices.
He just concluded his eighth season as the head coach of both Rochester teams. He served as an assistant coach for both over a five-year period before ascending to the head coach's role.
