The New York University men's tennis team opened its 2015-16 season at The College of New Jersey Invitational on Friday, September 11, in Ewing, NJ.
In their first action of the season, the Violets went 3-5 in doubles play. NYU won two out of four Flight A matches, as well as one of four Flight B contests.
Freshman Shrikar Kundur and junior Matt DeMichiel picked up the team's first victory in Flight A Round 2. Junior Umberto Setter and freshman Benedict Teoh followed with another win (also in Flight A Round 2), while senior Sidd Thangirala and freshman Yanik Parsch picked up a win in the first round of Flight B.
"It was a good start to the season," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy. "I was interested in how the newcomers would play, and I was happy with how they competed."
Junior Sammy Aronson and senior David Zumwalt also played well for the Violets, dropping a close 9-8 decision in their opening match.
