NYU Places Seventh at UAA Championship

From NYU Athletics

The New York University men's tennis team has concluded its 2015-16 season by finishing in seventh place at the 2016 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship. The Violets defeated the University of Rochester 6-3 in the seventh-place game on Saturday, April 23, at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.

The Violets (5-10) were victorious over the Yellowjackets (9-10) in one of the three doubles matches and five out of the six singles contests, exacting revenge for Rochester's win over NYU last week.

"We were happy to end the season with a win," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "We lost to Rochester just the week before and the guys stepped it up to reverse that result."

Matt DeMichiel and Benedict Teoh teamed up at #3 doubles for an 8-4 win.

DeMichiel, Teoh, Umberto Setter, Samuel Khoshbin, and Yanik Parsch were NYU's victors in singles on Saturday.

"Matt had a great tourament, going undefeated and beating players from the #1 and #6 teams in the nation," continued Choy. "We also had big points from him and Ben in doubles and also from the other singles winners."

The 2015-16 season has now concluded.
