Tartans Close Spring Tour With 5-2 Win Against Lehigh

The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team closed out its spring break tour with a 5-2 win against Division I Lehigh University at Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday, March 15. The Tartans move to 10-7 for the year while the Mountain Hawks drop to 2-9.

The second and third pairs of junior Jeffrey Chen (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and sophomore Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) and senior Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) and freshman Michael Rozenvasser (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) won by 8-2 and 8-3 scores, respectivley, to win the doubles point for the Tartans. The number team of sophomores Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) and Vayum Arora (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose) came from behind to win in a tiebreaker 8-7 (7-4).

Levine and Downing won at first and second singles, respectively, to give the Tartans a 3-0 advantage. Levine topped sophomore George Cooper, 7-5, 6-3, while Downing got the best of junior Jack Petersen, 6-4, 6-2.

Rozenvasser and Zheng both played tiebreakers with Rozenvasser winning 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (3-7), 10-6 at third singles and Zheng winning 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-5) at fourth singles.
