The No. 2-ranked Emory men's tennis team will have the opportunity to defend its title at the National Indoor Championships following a victory over Carnegie Mellon in the semifinals.  The Eagles upped their spring record to 4-2 following a 5-4 triumph over the No. 7 Tartans who fell to 6-5. The ITA National Indoor Championships are being held at the Cleveland Racquet Club in Pepper Pike, Ohio.

For the second straight day, Emory faced a 2-1 deficit after doubles.  The No. 3 team of junior David Omsky and sophomore Jonathan Jemison accounted for the team's lone point with their 8-3 decision over Chaz Downing and Nicholas Calzolano giving the Eagles a short-lived 1-0 lead.

In singles, sophomore Adrien Bouchet evened the score at 2-2 after he defeated Kenny Zheng, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3. Sophomore James Spaulding bettered Downing, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4, giving Emory a 3-2 edge. The win improved Spaulding's mark at the No. 4 slot to 4-0, 5-1 overall this spring.  The Tartans knotted the match when Daniel Levine recorded a three-set win over Eagle senior Aman Manji, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Jemison then put the Eagles ahead for good after winning at No. 2 over Michael Rozenvasser, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, upping his spring ledger to 6-0.  Junior Alec Josepher came through with the deciding point at No. 5 with a 7-6, 2-6, 6-1 outcome over Mark Prettyman.   The Tartans won at six, with Kunal Wadwani winning straight sets over senior Josh Goodman.
