Emory Opens Spring Season With Win Over Point University

The Emory University men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule Friday afternoon with an impressive home outing vs. Point University registering a 9-0 victory.

The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles competition. The No. 1 team of junior Scott Rubinstein and sophomore James Spaulding posted an 8-3 outcome over the Skyhawks duo of Rafa Hewett and Daniel Blanchard. Junior David Omsky and sophomore Jonathan Jemison came away with a win at the No. 2 spot while the No.3 tandem of sophomore Adrien Bouchet and freshman Max Renke also were victorious.

In singles, five of the Emory matches finished in straight sets. Senior Aman Manji was the lone Eagle to go past two sets, battling to a come-from-behind 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, verdict over Asad Siyyid at No. 1. Jemison topped Hewett at No. 2, 6-2, 6-3, while Bouchet bested Blanchard at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0.  Other singles winners for the Eagles included Spaulding at No. 4, junior Alec Josepher at No. 5 and senior Josh Goodman at six.
