Emory University senior Aman Manji battled his way to the ITA South Region Singles Championship Sunday afternoon in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Manji, the No. 3 seed, defeated No. 2 seed Avery Schober of Sewanee, 6-0, 6-3, in the semifinals before topping sophomore teammate and No. 1 seed, Jonathan Jemison, 6-3, 6-3, in the title clash.  It marks the fourth straight year and 10th time in the past 11 seasons that an Emory player has won the singles title.

Jemison punched his ticket to the finals by virtue of a victory over freshman teammate Rex Serituk, 6-1, 6-2.

Manji's first-place effort enables him to earn All-America honors for the 2016-17 campaign and propels him into the ITA Oracle Cup (formerly the ITA Small College Championships), Oct. 13-16, in Surprise, Arizona.

Manji and Serituk were still alive in the doubles competition with the pair matching up against junior David Omsky and Jemison, with the winner of that bout advancing to the championship round later on Sunday to meet Davis Plummer and Alejandro Centurion of Millsaps.
