The No. 1-ranked Emory men's tennis team continued its flair for the dramatic Sunday afternoon, rallying for a 5-4 win over No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the title showdown for the ITA National Indoor Championships in St. Peter, Minnesota. The triumph upped the Eagles' spring record to 5-1 while the Stags suffered their first setback in seven decisions.

Emory had to dig itself out of a 1-4 deficit, winning at Nos. 3, 4, 5 & 6 singles to bring the crown back to Atlanta. Today, it was senior Andrew Harrington who provided the heroics, battling to a 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (3) win at fifth singles over Matthew Jacobs in the final and deciding match.

CMS jumped out to a 2-0 lead after winning at the top two doubles positions. Emory got on the board when junior Jonathan Jemison and freshman Hayden Cassone registered an 8-5 verdict over Jake Berber and Daniel Park at the No. 3 spot, raising their spring slate to 4-1.

Emory saw the Stags capture victories at No. 1 & 2 singles, before narrowing the gap to 2-4 when Cassone rolled to a 6-3, 6-2 outcome against Park at third singles, his fourth win in as many outings this spring. The Eagles then tied the match following junior Adrien Bouchet's win at No. 3 against Oscar Burney (6-3, 36, 6-0), and senior Scott Rubinstein's decision over Avinash Vemuri at six, 6-3, 7-5, upping his spring record to 4-1.
